I had another blog you see- I'll tell you all about it when I settle in.

I used to paint more controversial subjects, nothing too wild in the big scheme of things, but they used to provoke a reaction, questions.

These days its a much more sedate affair. Nobody sends me messages asking why I paint certain flowers and not others, nobody's fascinated by my motives. It's all thoroughly respectable.

I wonder what on earth I'm going to write about, I guess it'll all be a bit like this- here's my latest painting

Maybe blogging will help with my ongoing fear of wordy descriptions about my paintings. I absolutely loathe the concept of the artists statement, it's OK for grand artists but it's just daft when sunday painters feel forced to intellectualise their work unnecessarily.

The ones I respect the most say something like "I paint what I like looking at, if you like it too then buy it"

Having said that- this work is about the feeling of alienation brought about by the constraints of postmodern life in western industrial culture and the struggle of the individual.

It isn't really, it's a picture of some trees, painted with some blue paints. They look a bit like they're underwater. Enjoy :)
